This is a beautiful, yet simple classical guitar piece. I tabbed it out in Guitar Pro 5, and you can find the .gp5 and .pdf files on my Tab/Sheet page. Below is a video so you can hear what it sounds like.

I didn’t make this tab, but I posted it on my Tab/Sheet page anyways. It’s Leo Kottke’s “Cripple Creek.”

Here’s what it sounds like…

Just added tab for Sitting On Top of the World on the Tab/Sheet page. This is pretty much the Doc Watson version with some stuff I made up at the end.

Here’s my video again to hear what it sounds like. Maybe it can help if anyone wants to use it to learn along with the tab.

Tablature for Crow River Waltz

I tabbed out Leo Kottke’s Crow River Waltz on my Tab/Sheet page if anyone’s interested. This is my first attempt at tabbing. I used Guitar Pro 5, which is a godsend.
I reposted my video below to go with the tab. It’s in open G tuning. It’s pretty easy, and fun to play. It’s meant to be on a 12-string, but should still sound pretty on a 6-string.

Just when I thought I had my own little niche going, mixing the cello and guitar at my solo shows, this guy has to come along.

Paolo Angeli

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been outchilled. I give you Paolo Angeli.

I am a poor wayfaring stranger

I just recorded a new one: “Wayfaring Stranger.” I first heard this song on a Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys CD, called “Off The Record, Vol. 1: Live Recordings, 1956-1969.” It is an incredible CD if anyone is looking for something refreshing to listen to.

Wayfaring Stranger is an old “white spiritual” song, basically about putting up with all the crap you have to deal with in life with the final reward of getting to be with your family in the afterlife. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m done plucking G-strings…

Wuddup pervs. It takes me about 3 months to retune my 12-string, so while I’m still in open G tuning I thought I’d slip in another quickie. This is Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” Leo Kottke style.

Here’s another song I recorded tonight - “Sunflower River Blues,” by John Fahey. I’m on my 12-string with fingerpicks, as usual.

Grab some bourbon.
Hope you enjoy.

Not sure if this one was blog-worthy, but I was messing around with a ragtime song and decided to record it. No big deal.

The tab is in a book called “Art of Ragtime Guitar” and this little piece was written by Richard Saslow.
